Dinefwr Park is just a 50 minute drive from Dolgoch Mill Cottages and for National Trust members is not to be missed.

Within the park grounds you will find the ruins of a castle and Newton House, just by the main car park, a restored mansion that offers a host of rooms to explore with plenty to interact with. There is a hidden house tour lasting approximately one hour that is well worth booking a place on as soon as you arrive. The tea room is a lovely place to soak up the atmosphere of Newton Hall and the gift shop and outside courtyard are worth at least strolling through!

Once you have explored the mansion then head outside to the park grounds where you can seek out the unique White Park Cattle that roam fenced off areas of the park, or the deer in the deer park that you’ll find on the way to Dinefwr Castle ruins – all of which are within the Park grounds.

From the heights of Dinfwr Castle you’ll be rewarded with stunning views down into the valley and 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. Look slightly south of west and you’ll see Paxton’s Tower in the distance, a folly that is worth dropping in on if you have time on your return journey to Dolgoch Mill Cottages.

A five minute drive from Dinefwr Park takes you to the pretty market town of Llandeilo where you will find coffee shops, restaurants, bars and quirky shops. Llandeilo is definitely worth visiting so if you’re only in this area once make sure you build some time into your day for a worthwhile visit. Don’t miss the Ginhaus Deli and Chocolate Emporium!
